Q & A
I know I'm in for a long Wednesday when I look in my pro-am partner's bag and see...
Two dozen golf balls.
If my wife/girlfriend could choose the vanity plate on my car, it would read...
HMRNGHK (Hammering Hank Kuehne)
At Thanksgiving dinner, you'd be most thankful for what shot pulled off in 2005?
The towering drive I put over the trees on No. 18 at John Deere Classic.
Forget about the Vardon Trophy or Player of the Year, the PGA Tour awards ceremony would be a whole lot more entertaining if they awarded...
The "Did they just hit it that far?" trophy.
A lot of guys complain about metal spikes, but what I would outlaw would be...
Belly putters.
My high school PE teacher would describe my athletic ability as...
Great, but even better with hard work.
I'd lay 10:1 odds on my caddie against anyone in the field if the game/contest were...
Anything involving athletic ability. He is the youngest caddie on Tour, so I expect him to beat the older guys.
If golf were like other team sports and there was a pre-game speech or a halftime speech, what coach (living or dead) would you choose to deliver that pep talk? Why?
Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski), because he always gets to the big game and has proven he can win.
Do you think there should be a standardized golf ball for professionals? If so, do you think that will solve the distance debate? If not, what will solve the distance debate?
No, because different players play better with different types of balls. As long as the equipment keeps getting better there is no solving the debate.
What is the funniest/quirkiest encounter you have had with a fan?
I autographed my pro-am partner's driver once, and then he played with it.
Which professional golfer would win on Celebrity Jeopardy? Who would end up with a negative dollar amount?
Win: Davis Love. Negative: Me.
Who is one athlete outside the game of golf you admire?
Lebron James. As young as he is, he always handles himself with class and dignity.
What type of vehicle were you driving when you won your first professional event? How long after that victory before you upgraded?
I was driving a BMW, which I kept until the car was ready to be replaced.
During a tournament, what is your pre-round routine? What is the first club out of the bag during a practice session? Last?
Get hydrated, hit wedge through driver and go roll in some putts.
What do you think about a three-way international competition pitting the best from the United States, Europe and the rest of the world?
I think it would be great for golf and a great way to determine who is the best!
